STOP

Several years ago when I saw the movie "The Passion of Christ"  the theater was full.  In the audience you could hear some people weeping and some even groaning. Such was the emotional impact of the scenes we were watching .  At one point the visual of the suffering of Jesus was so graphic that I felt like standing up and shouting  STOP!!!!  I  wanted to stop the agony and pain being inflicted on him, and his crucifixion.   The Apostle Peter, after hearing Jesus speak of his coming suffering and death, wanted to stop any possibility of that happening . Matt. 16:21-23 21. From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life. 22...

Bible Words Acrostic THE CROSS    Isa. 52:14 (NIV) Just as there were many who were appalled at him — his appearance was so disfigured beyond that of any human being and his form marred beyond human likeness. Cicero was so afraid of the practice of crucifixion that he didn’t even want to think about it. So, he wrote in the 1st century BC :  “Let the very word ‘cross’ be far removed from not only the bodies of Roman citizens, but even from their thoughts, their eyes, and their ears." He viewed the cross as a symbol of unspeakable horror, which it was.  When I see someone wearing a cross I like to ask them if they understand what it symbolizes. You might be surprised at some of the answers. Then I ask them if it is OK for me to tell them what the cross means to christians. Given permission I tell the various views of the cross. VICTIM or VESSEL There are many times in my life, experiences or events, when I viewed life as a victim. But in the process of time I came to realize and understand that God was using them to mold me into a vessel useful to Him and an encouragement to others. The Bible helped me to see life from God’s view. Jer. 18:1-6 ) " 3 Then I went down to the potter's house, and there he was, making something at the wheel. 4 And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter; so he made it again into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to make.  5 Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying: 6 "O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter?
