Making A Great Nation


Much has been said about making a Great Nation.

the desire is admirable. The vision is commentable.

The effort is formidable. The result is foundational for a good

and an enduring  government.  The Bible, God’s Word, gives

specific requirements for this to be achieved.   


Prov.14:34a  (NLT) “Godliness makes a nation great…”

 

Godly in attitude and action.
Observant of God’s law for human value.
Diligent in keeping their promises.

Living a life of transparency.
Investing time and energy for the benefit of the people.
Never neglecting the responsibility of personal accountability.
Excited about how God will bless the nation that trusts Him

Serving as an honored privilege on behalf of the nation.
Selflessly willing to sacrifice for the freedom of the nation.


The opposite of this is ungodly which serves only selfless desires.
Ungodliness will destroy any  nation that ignores, neglects or rebels
against the God who created life and made freedom possible.

Prov.14:34 b  (NLT)   “....sin (ungodliness) is a disgrace to any people”

God will not be mocked. 

Gal.6:8

“Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay

and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please

the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit.” 


How should people or nations respond?

Romans 10:9-10 9 (ESV) 
"because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord 
and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, 
you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified,
and with the mouth one confesses and is saved."

    I agree... this is about as plain and forthright as it can be.
    We so need Godliness in our lives and in our nation...now more than ever.

                                Several years ago when I saw the movie "The Passion of Christ"  the theater was full.  In the audience you could hear some people weeping and some even groaning. Such was the emotional impact of the scenes we were watching .  At one point the visual of the suffering of Jesus was so graphic that I felt like standing up and shouting  STOP!!!!  I  wanted to stop the agony and pain being inflicted on him, and his crucifixion.   The Apostle Peter, after hearing Jesus speak of his coming suffering and death, wanted to stop any possibility of that happening .
